Union Local 613 brings Southern-inspired cuisine to Ottawa
Union Local 613- The Venue
Union Local 613 is part of a lively restaurant scene renovation in the heart of Ottawa’s Centretown that I've been wanting to check out for quite some time. It seems everyone is talking about this place! Its upbeat atmosphere has a fun feel and the combination of booths, tables, and a bit of communal seating has a laid back, relaxing vibe.
Everyone needs to explore to Canada's capital!
I’m a huge advocate of getting to know and explore your own hometown. But sometimes even I need to take my own advice!
With this in mind, May is Ottawa Month, here at TurnipSeed Travel!
This short post will be followed all month with other posts about things to do in, and around Ottawa, Canada.
Jane’s Walk 101
This weekend, we were fortunate to take part in the Jane’s Walk Tours.
The Jane’s Walks are a celebration of the life and work of Jane Jacobs, an urbanist and activist who didn’t let a lack of formal training stop her from revolutionizing how we see urban spaces and ecosystems.
This annual free festival of walking tours helps put residents back in touch with their neighbourhood, their city, and appreciate the rich history and architecture all around us.
They say everyone needs to travel to Las Vegas
Everyone has an opinion about Las Vegas. There are those that are passionate about it, try to build every special occasion around it, need to get their yearly Vegas fix. And there are those who say “once was enough” and swear never again.
I fall somewhere in the middle. I’d absolutely go again, and as Vegas is a fairly short and inexpensive plane ride away, it has great potential to be a sunny long weekend destination in the future. However, there are many places I want to see and discover for the first time - other places I’d rather spend my travel budget. So what did I love about Vegas– and what fell short?
I'm heading to TBEX for the first time!
Are you going to TBEX? I am – and I can’t wait! TBEX, the Travel Bloggers’ Exchange, is a bi-annual conference experience that has one session in North America in spring, and another in Europe in the fall. So happy that it’s practically in my backyard this June (well, technically 4 hours away, in Toronto – but close enough!) I’m really looking forward to connecting with old friends, putting names to faces, meeting some inspiring organizations to work with, and enjoying the very best that Toronto has to offer.
