A Bespoke Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Montreal
After an epic 5 hours of walking through Montreal – from Mont Royal to the waterfront – it was a wonderful relief to check into the Hotel Le St Martin and put my feet up. Hotel Le St Martin is a stylish, tastefully appointed boutique hotel located in central Montreal, adjacent to the Peel metro station, making it the perfect choice for a weekend getaway.
Our standard room came equipped with a deep bathtub (one of my favourite things in the world!) and the bathroom was filled with natural light, owing to the glass walls. It was a treat to have two queen beds instead of the standard doubles in many hotel rooms, and the beds were heavenly – thick, soft, comfortable mattresses, endless white linens, plenty of pillows.
Little touches really set the Hotel Le St Martin apart – like big, cozy bathrobes, a Keurig coffee machine, and our 4pm “Snack Angel” who came around offering complimentary treats. There were some things, however, that could have been improved. The towels were rough and stiff and the hairdryer was a small, standard issue device without much power.
In terms of amenities and services, the Hotel Le St Martin has a small roof top pool that, while tiny in its proportions, was nevertheless charming and relaxing. The chic restaurant/bar area featured some very funky art installations and also boasted a pretty outside seating area. Our included breakfast was delicious but the service was horribly slow - on our first morning, it took an hour for the four of us to receive our food!
I would recommend the Hotel Le St Martin for anyone who appreciates sophisticated style, wants to explore boutique hotels for the first time, or anyone who is looking for luxury accommodations in the heart of Montreal.
As always, I welcome your comments. What do you look for in a hotel?
