There is nothing like the bonus free legroom that comes with the exit row.Exit Row Seats With nearly as much leg room as first class, the row of seats corresponding with the wing exits in economy are always a great value. Depending on the configuration of the airline, you might find that the exit row not only offers extensive legroom, but it might also only have 2 seats in the row compared to the standard 3. If you deeply desire the window seat but still like to move around and stretch your legs, this is the row for you! Meet one of our travel value all stars! No matter where you go, what you do, or why you travel, these features, attractions, or amenities will always offer you tremendous value; an excellent experience for your limited time and money.
Do you walk on the wild side when you travel?I am a walker. I come from a long line of ‘prowlers’ and my restless legs are always eager to hit the road. I've pounded the pavement around the world, first to save precious coins on bus fare while making my own way to the hostel, and secondly out of impatience – I can often reach a destination myself by the time it takes to wait for subway train or taxi. My ultra-speedy mission walk is legendary! Occasionally, these restless legs break into a run, as they did in Paris, where I ran the marathon in 2006.
Shoestring budgets in London? YES!Is traveling to London on your list? This beautiful city has something to offer everyone and its well organized, English-speaking attractions and excursions make it very appealing to a first time traveler. Unfortunately, the exchange rate of the British Pound puts just about every other currency at a distinct disadvantage. It’s not that the prices are so unreasonable for a local resident – it’s the conversion that really makes a visitor suffer! Still, with a bit of advance planning, you can enjoy the best of London, even on a budget.
Public parks and botanical gardens are perfect places to visit when you travel.Meet one of our travel value all stars! Public Parks
The best things in life really are free! Few things come close to matching public parks and gardens in term of their outstanding value. Utterly free –or occasionally costing a cup of coffee – there’s no limit on the amount of time you can sit, daydream, and people-watch. I love to soak in the beauty of the public art and lovely gardens, while enjoying locals go about their day. Are you getting the best bang for your travel dollars? Here's how to make the most of them!In a previous post, I talked about how much I loved free attractions - not only for their delicious pricing, but also for the value their dedicated staff adds to the visit. For the follow up, I’m going to take a look at paid attractions and give some helpful ideas on how you can gain the best possible value for your admission price.
Even a budget traveller can use a splurge now and then! I focus a lot on value travel and that often translates into budget travel. But my intention is really to focus on getting the best possible value for money, and sometimes that translates into well placed splurges. These are a few examples of when I spent much more than my average budget, but it was worth every penny.
For every travel success, there's a failure. As 2013 gets into full swing, and we start looking forward to new trips - both big and small – I've been taking some time to reflect on what worked well for us when it came to travel finances in 2012. Several key things worked really well for us. We were able to use our American National Parks pass to the absolute max, and we employed it several times when we visited Hawaii in February. The card not only paid for itself several times over in the 12 months we had it, but it also encouraged us to visit locations we normally would not go to and to take full advantage of park services, including special lectures and nature walks.
How we maximized our status miles to book the world's cheapest round-the-world flights. (Updated 2022!) My husband and I are about to undertake an incredible journey. We've cashed in every frequent flyer point we've ever had and spent 80,000 points each to purchase tickets to Australia. Except we don't really have tickets JUST to Australia - we have tickets around the world. And while we spent 80,000 points, we really got 200,000 plus points worth of tickets. Confused? So were we - at first.
I'm passionate about value - where the save, when to splurge.I think anyone can save money to travel. Bit by bit, coin by coin, scrapping a dollar or two from dusty corners of your budget, and letting it slowly accumulating in your coffee can. In my house, saving to travel is a priority and we combine many traditional and unusual ways to do it.
Our philosophy is both for saving the money to travel and/or for creating bonus money in your budget to splurge on such luxuries as, say, some of the greatest coffee in the world. Either way, because you worked so hard to get there, made so much effort to save up, our value travel philosophy encourages you to use that money for pure travel enjoyment. |
