Travel, toiletries, and one tiny pack.
I love everything about packing. From the challenge of making my bag as small as possible to the excitement and anticipation, I feel like the fun of packing is an extension of the fun of travel. Even though I'm determined to pack as little as possible, I always make room for a few treats.
Looking at it all written down, it seems like an extensive list of "treats", especially considering that I rarely wear any make up at home. But most of these items are tiny travel sizes or samples and, for the most part, they are very inexpensive. Together, these products will take me anywhere I need to go. Deep pink lipstick, dark lashes, and a smoky eye in Paris. Some bronze highlighting and shine buster in the Sydney sun. Glossy nails and polished, light eyes and lips for a Brussels hotel review. Rosy cheeks and pinned back hair to combat jetlag in San Francisco. The possibilities are endless! Here's what I'm packing in my make-up bag for our round-the-world trip: Mont Tremblant is a fantastic Quebec escapeI'm just back from a wonderful girls' weekend in Mont Tremblant. I feel like I see my girlfriends so often when I travel, but it's often in the context of mixed couples’ weekends. I did some rough math and realized it had been 7 years - yes, 7!!! - since my last trip with just the girls.
Mont Tremblant is a beautiful community about 2 hours from my home. Best known for its outdoors activities - skiing in winter, a host of sports and recreation in the summer- we were there in the middle of its swing season. The slopes had just closed, tourists were in very low numbers, and there was still a dampness in the air. While others might prefer to visit when the town is bustling with visitors, it turned out that a quiet weekend away was exactly what we all needed! Ladies - these travel tips are just for you!
Every week, I am proud to co-host the #girlstravel twitter chat - the only twitter travel just for female travelers.
For the week of March 11, the theme surrounds "women's issues" - you know, the kind of things only women have to deal with when they travel! (Caution, male readers: hormones are involved!). It made me think about how most people bring a bit of an emergency kit with them when they travel (first aid, sewing kit, matches). Maybe the prudent female traveler needs some decidedly feminine backup as well when she travels! Traveling solo for the first time? These are 10 of my favourite destinations. In honour of International Women's Day on March 8th, and the #WeGoSolo twitter chat, here are 10 amazing destinations that are perfect for a first time, solo female travelers. I've been to them all and I can heartily endorse them. I've traveled in North America, Africa, and Europe, and I feel very sure there are many other cities around the world which would be perfect for a new explorer. Which one sounds like the place for you? |
