Mont Tremblant is a fantastic Quebec escapeI'm just back from a wonderful girls' weekend in Mont Tremblant. I feel like I see my girlfriends so often when I travel, but it's often in the context of mixed couples’ weekends. I did some rough math and realized it had been 7 years - yes, 7!!! - since my last trip with just the girls. Mont Tremblant is a beautiful community about 2 hours from my home. Best known for its outdoors activities - skiing in winter, a host of sports and recreation in the summer- we were there in the middle of its swing season. The slopes had just closed, tourists were in very low numbers, and there was still a dampness in the air. While others might prefer to visit when the town is bustling with visitors, it turned out that a quiet weekend away was exactly what we all needed! How Did We Save?We discovered one advantage of travelling during swing season - a whole host of accommodation choices. All major hotel chains are represented in Mont Tremblant and condo rental opportunities abound. We settled on a gorgeous suite at the Marriott that featured two double beds in a private bedroom, living room with pullout couch, a small but full service kitchen, and a private balcony. We loved that breakfast was included - as was a hot tub - and it was wonderful to be in the center of town. We had a relaxing first evening in, making fajitas, drinking wine, watching cheesy TV. Efforts to venture out for a walk were washed away by a forceful rainfall, so we took that as a sign to hunker down indoors for the rest of the evening! And What Did We Do?We were a bit more ambitious on out second day. We conquered the breakfast buffet, a long hike, shopping, exploring, and a few hours at a Scandinavian spa. The spas were an incredible experience. Alternatiing hot exposure in thermal pools and Finnish saunas with icy plunges and relaxation zones (like huddling under blankets in front of an outdoor fireplace, or napping on padded mats in a heated solarium) made for an unforgettable evening. The presence of local wildlife, the delicious hot teas and chilled flavoured waters, and the silent atmosphere gave an overall sense of really unplugging from the world. Finishing up with a late night meal and a bottle of wine really completed the day and made me even more reluctant to depart the next morning. Mont Tremblant - The Verdict is In! We didn't go far and we didn't stay very long, but my girls’ weekend in Mont Tremblant was a relaxing, rejuvenating weekend away from the worries of everyday life. We’re already talking about making it an annual event! Below is TurnipSeed Travel's very first survey! Please take a second to fill it out!

It WAS fun! I had never been to a Nordic/Scandinavian spa, but I really liked it - relaxing and soothing!

I love the beach in all seasons! You raise such a good point - as long as you make some minor adjustments to wardrobe/preparation, you can enjoy most activities and attractions in any weather.
