I'm so excited to be telling CTV Ottawa Morning Live viewers (and all of you!) about our amazing upcoming Aeroplan round the world points trip.I'm so proud and excited to have presented travel information (and hopefully a little inspiration too!) with my friends at CTV Ottawa Morning Live. I've had the pleasure to visit them before to talk social media in my role as the owner of Sculpt Social - on my last segment, we chatted about the best designed apps for organization. This visit however was extra special as I got to talk about the first love of my life - TRAVEL! Specifically, crafty travel that allows regular folks (like you and me) to maximize their frequent flyer miles. In case you didn't get to see the entire segment - or if you loved it so much you want a recap - this mini post is for you! We really did book a 15 flight, 5 continent trip for less than $500 each! How cute are these photos from our first points-based around the world trip in 2013? You might have heard the rumor... We have cashed in all of our Aeroplan points and have booked a trip to Australia for the autumn of 2018. And, once again, we are taking advantage of the plethora of Star Alliance flight schedule possibilities and making a whole lot of "free" stops along the way. And I do mean A LOT! We'll be spending time in North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South East Asia along the way. Wondering how we managed to book it - all for about $500 each? This detailed blog post goes through all the information you need.
This isn't the first time we've pulled off such a caper. Back in 2013, we did the exact same thing. We took a basic rewards flight to Australia and worked the stopover and layover rules to enjoy mini breaks in Belgium, France, Thailand, Turkey and so many other incredible destinations. That time, we spend less than $400 each on taxes and fees- a great deal! Want more details on how we booked that trip? Read about it here! (And Click here to see a chronological list of every blog post relating to our 2013 trip - or skip right ahead to this article on our most incredible travel experience ever, which was riding a hot air balloon at sunrise in Bagan, Myanmar. You'll love it!) We're so happy to have you along for the journey as we prepare for this trip - and enjoy many others along the way. We hope you'll follow our adventures on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
