Who doesn't love curling up with a new travel guide for a bit of daydreaming? For me, that’s at least half the fun of a trip! Travel guides aren't cheap, and for those who are passionate about their research or like to read them for fun, the cost can definitely add up. For a limited time, a selection of Frommer’s Travel Guides are available for 50% off through online ordering at Chapters/Indigo. Save a little extra by shipping to a local store for free and entering your iRewards or Plum number. Travel savvy folks will first log in to their Aeroplan account and then follow the link to the Chapters website to gain additional Aeroplan points. (In store, the select guides are apparently 30% off)
I love Frommer’s for their experience, in-depth research, and detailed descriptions of restaurants and hotels.
I last used Maui Day by Day on my Hawaiian trip in February. I found it to be a great supplement to Lonely Planet Hawaii and I was really pleased with the accompanying map – it’s made of a plastic-like paper, making it water resistant and tough to tear. I find the Day by Day series good for those who don’t do as much advance research or (in my case) obsessive planning, as they suggest a wide variety of itineraries and agendas. For most trips, however, I stick with their more traditional, much thicker guides.
